South of the village of Comrie is former PoW Camp 21, Cultybraggan. It is the most intact PoW camp left in the UK and serves as both a remarkable piece of heritage and since being bought out by the village in 2004, an impressive facility for the village of Comrie. It was originally built to house some of the worst German PoWs, including SS prisoners and at one time, Rudolf Hess.
After the war, the facility served as an army training camp. The Royal Observer Corps located a nuclear monitoring post on the site. Then, in the 90s the camp alse served as an underground Regional Government Headquarters, complete with nuclear bunker.
The nuclear bunker is currently up for sale.
